Dakota Automation partnered with Sentry on a design-build office addition to support the company’s continued growth in Watertown, South Dakota. As operations expanded, the need for additional office space created an opportunity to improve workflow, enhance collaboration, and provide a professional environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
The addition was designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing facility while creating functional spaces that support day-to-day operations. New offices, conference and meeting areas, reception space, employee amenities, and support areas were incorporated into the project to accommodate both current needs and future growth.
Through Sentry’s design-build approach, architectural design, construction planning, and field execution remained closely coordinated throughout the project. The result is a modern office environment tailored to the way Dakota Automation works and serves its customers.
Sentry’s Architecture & Engineering team worked directly with Dakota Automation throughout the planning and design process to develop an office addition that aligned with the company’s operational goals. The design focused on creating efficient workspaces, collaborative meeting areas, employee amenities, and a welcoming experience for customers and visitors while maintaining consistency with the existing facility.
The project was delivered through Sentry’s design-build process, allowing design, budgeting, planning, and construction activities to remain aligned from the beginning of the project. Early collaboration helped streamline decision making, maintain project continuity, and ensure the completed addition reflected Dakota Automation’s operational requirements and long-term goals.
Sentry coordinated all phases of the project from initial planning through final completion. Ongoing communication between design teams, field crews, subcontractors, and Dakota Automation helped maintain project momentum while ensuring quality and consistency throughout construction.
Sentry’s General Construction Division completed the office addition, including reception and lobby areas, private offices, conference space, open work areas, employee break spaces, kitchen facilities, restrooms, and supporting utility spaces. The completed addition expands Dakota Automation’s workspace while creating a professional and functional environment for employees and visitors.
Sentry’s Electrical Division installed the power distribution, lighting systems, communications infrastructure, and supporting electrical components throughout the addition. The electrical systems were designed to support daily operations while providing flexibility for future needs.
Sentry’s Mechanical Division provided plumbing and mechanical systems throughout the office addition. These systems support occupant comfort, efficient building operation, and long-term facility performance while integrating with the existing building infrastructure.
Successful facility expansions require more than additional square footage. They need to support how employees work, how customers are served, and how businesses continue to grow.
